Thank
you for your interest in our camps!
We are excited that you wish to know what a job
with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's summer
camps entails. We see our camps as a mission field
and an opportunity to proclaim the good news of
Jesus Christ to disadvantaged youth. In addition
to the work we do with youth, you will be challenged
to set life goals for yourself and be supported
in a Christian community to assist you in fulfilling
those goals.
The Society
Camps offer you the opportunity to work with people
from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
You will work in an environment that celebrates
multi-cultural differences and similarities in
everyday life, providing you with a chance to
increase your own personal self-confidence and
organizational skills. This job offers you plenty
of opportunities to practice communication techniques
and listening skills, which are valuable tools
in any career.
We work with children from a variety of social
and faith backgrounds. Much of our first week
in pre-camp training is spent developing the skills
you will need to help these youngsters build their
self-esteem and self-confidence through specially
designed activities.
Working at Camp Ozanam is an around-the-clock job
(with a time-off period each day) that becomes
your way of life for the summer. It is a physically
demanding job, but one that also has many emotionally
rewarding life-changing moments as well.
One thing we would like you to understand about
summer at Camp Ozanam is that it is a kid's
world, and we are the role models. We do not smoke,
drink, use drugs or inappropriate language while
working at camp. If any of these activities or
habits are important in your daily life, then this
is not the right job for you.
If you genuinely care about children and can
put their needs first, you will fit in as a role
model (counselor). Camp life is a challenge, but
it is a great place to put your talents to work,
combining children with a terrific outdoor environment.
If you feel the mission of Camp Ozanam mesh with your goals and objectives, then please fill out and return an application . Please send your Staff Application directly to Camp Ozanam , 7303 Walker Road, Carsonville, Michigan 48450. We look forward to having you on our team.
