One of the components of sound financial strategy that the Detroit Society of St. Vincent de Paul has long needed is an endowment fund. In today’s world, foundations, corporations and many of the community’s leading citizens like to know that their dollars given to charity are backed by strong financial strategies within the institutions they benefit. Endowment is often seen by especially larger donors as a key component of sustainability and the ability to accomplish the organization’s mission in hard times as well as good.
Your gift to the Campaign for Hope not only provides help to the poor today, but also establishes the financial ground on which we will stand tomorrow.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society Foundation has decided that the time has come for the Society in Detroit to have its own endowment fund. We will start modestly and make this a funding priority over many years, inviting those closest to us to remember our endowment fund in their wills or other estate plans. In the Campaign for Hope, our start on an endowment fund can be accomplished for as little as $1 million, so we have included this as one of our funding priorities.
Your gift to the Campaign for Hope helps us accomplish this long-sought financial necessity. We have hope for the future sustainability of the organization, and for its long-term ability to serve the poorest of the poor. Without your gift, we would have little opportunity to start our endowment, much less build it over time. You can work miracles by helping us get started.
Whether we are educating, training, or providing food and shelter, working with the poorest of the poor will always be a challenge. When times are difficult economically the need increases drastically just as many funding sources are drying up. Endowment will bring to us the gift of calling on our own resources as a way to see us through future economic ups and downs.
